PARKROYAL on Pickering - Singapore

After three days of non-stop Singapore adventure (thanks to Skyscanner), I felt tired and was yearning for the ultimate treat to cap off my short visit to the city. And so I indulged and later on fell in love with a hotel-in-a-garden in Singapore.

I heard that PARKROYAL on Pickering, Singapore (check here for discounted hotel rates) is a haven for architecture freaks out there. And why not? The architectural design and overall theme of the hotel truly depicts a love for aesthetic goodness and the nature. You can clearly see it from the structure itself from the outside. A cool architectural design surrounded by numerous gardens and water installation art.

A very spacious and refreshing lobby
Me and my friend Fatima (who is based in Indonesia) decided to stay at PARKROYAL on Pickering Hotel. We arrived earlier than the check-in time but the staff welcomed and accommodated us well. Our stuff was brought to our room as we enjoyed the welcome drinks they offered and I knew then on that we’re in for a nice time.

Our keycards were given and we were ushered in our Orchid Club Deluxe room. The open-spaced walkway leading to our room was so refreshing to see. Lush greeneries welcomed us on our way to the room. The moment I stepped inside our room, I felt a certain rush of excitement. Our 32 sqm. room was so huge and we were so giddy like kids on a candy store.

The walkway to my room
There’s this earthy and organic feel to the room. The use of wood and earth colors blended with the overall theme of the hotel. The movable partition of the bathroom made it look so open and spacious. Also, the floor-to-ceiling glass windows provided a nice view of the city. I didn’t wanna leave this room.

There's a hidden partition that you could roll out for privacy at the bath area
There are three main areas of the room; there’s the bed area, a workstation and the toilet and bath. The bed was so comfy that the moment I rested my listless body, I didn’t wanna leave it. The workstation was so cool with a bay window. The bathroom area has its own character as well. The toilet and shower areas were separated by glass doors. The wash area was perfectly situated in the center and a bathtub was strategically placed beside the glass window which made it more romantic (imagine having some bubble bath overlooking the Singapore skyline).

After checking our room we immediately went to the pool area. The hotel dedicated the entire fifth level to be their “Wellness Floor”. There’s a 300-meter garden walk, a Fitness center, a Jacuzzi and Steam room, the St.Gregory spa and the Infinity pool. The landscape on this floor felt like we were transported into a nature park with full of lush greeneries and vegetation.

Ready for a nature walk?
The unpretentious infinity pool was the highlight of this floor with an amazing view of Singapore. A staff immediately assisted us and assured us that we can ask some help from any of the staff there. Colorful cabanas also provided the guests with the right amount of shade and comfy mattress and pillows. I saw some siesta-loving guests inside the cabanas.

Just lie there and do nothing
We went back to our room planning our day ahead. We planned to check out Chinatown which was just a 10-minute walk from the hotel and to explore more nearby areas. We also planned to spend some time in the pool and finish it off with a bubble bath. But everything failed. We ended up sleeping the whole afternoon that we didn’t get to do anything. That’s just how comfy the beds were.

The next day we woke up at around ten in the morning. Again, I blame the comfy beds. Thirty minutes more and our complimentary breakfast buffet will be history. We immediately rushed to the restaurant, the Lime (an open-kitchen-concept restaurant), and were ushered to our table right away.

Very casual and homey
The buffet spread was huge. They serve some not-so-typical breakfast stuff that you wouldn’t have in other hotel restaurants. I was impressed on their wide selection of breakfast items. I really want to try everything but that was just impossible.

There’s the Bread station, Egg station, Dim Sum station, Cereal station, Meat station and so much more. I’ve tried some of the dishes which were all great but the remarkable item that I loved so much was their Orange juice. Yes, their Orange juice is such a winner from the very first sip. You could feel the freshness from the juicy pulps. I think I had too much of it that I forgot to try the other dishes.

First of my countless plates
We checked out with refreshed souls. The plan of a relaxing stay was achieved.

Our Orchid Club Deluxe room in PARKROYAL on Pickering was so homey. It didn’t feel like we were in a hotel room. It felt like our homes were easily brought to Singapore along with our luggage. There’s this certain comfort that promises you a very relaxing stay. Plus the staff were all so cool that you wouldn’t feel the need to call them everytime you need something because they take care of everything right before you even ask for it. Just perfect.

Overall, I would love to stay again in PARKROYAL on Pickering and do nothing when I go back to Singapore.
