The sky suddenly turned grey and the heavy downpour caught us in the middle of Jalan Masjid India. Drenched from the rain, we got inside the StarPoints Hotel lobby and the gracious staff welcomed us as if they’re waiting for us the whole day. And then a huge sigh of relief.

Tucked in the middle of the Kuala Lumpur’s Little India, StarPoints Hotel was our home for two days. The hotel has 137 contemporary-designed rooms and 3 accommodation types that will surely fit all of your needs; Superior room, Deluxe room and Suite (check rates).

Modern chic design is the theme that echoed all around the hotel. From the lobby up to the hallways, touches of contemporary motif can be spotted from the wall applications and fixtures. The soft lighting also provides an air of coziness.

The moment we stepped into our room, the Superior room, I knew that we’re in for a very relaxing stay. Our 22 sqm.-room provides a space for complete relaxation.

The room includes a Satellite TV, complimentary internet access, wide working table with lamp, full-length mirror, safety vault, coffee and tea-making facilities and the comfiest bed. The en suite toilet and bathroom is complete with hot and cold shower, rainshower head and basic toiletries.

The bed was huge that we never had a problem with knocking each other off as we hibernate. The mattresses and the pillows were so comfy that the moment we slumped our tired bods on the bed, we snoozed right away.

What I love most about the room is the wall to ceiling glass windows, I spent most of the times just staring at the street scene from that vantage point. The huge draperies also provided a very warm feel; perfect for the seclusion when you need it. We didn’t wanna leave the room so we ordered some beers instead to cap the night off. We asked for some ice cubes from the in-room service and were so surprised when a staff delivered right away a bucketful of ice cubes. Talk about fast and efficient service eh?

After checking in our room, we were toured around to check out the other room types. First was the Deluxe room. This 30 sq.m.-room is similar to the Superior room in terms of amenities but is bigger for that airy and extra comfort. It’s roomier but the cozy feel is still there because of the warm tones and soft lighting around the room.

The Suite room, on the other hand, is perfect for those who wish to travel in style. The 50 sq.m.-room lets you experience the luxury that the room has to offer. With a good vantage point, one could check out Little India through its floor to ceiling glass windows. The room is so spacious that hosting an intimate party is possible.

We also get to check the hotel’s rooftop where the Kababish Restaurant is located. There’s this Mediterranean feel inside the restaurant with gorgeous lamps covering the ceiling. A feast of barbecued favorites from South Asia beautifully covered the buffet table.

The view from the al fresco area of the restaurant is also nice. You’ll have a nice view of the city from that standpoint. The lively streets around Little India are very much fun to see. Complimentary breakfast is also served in Kababish Restaurant and I had loads of my favorite Roti Canai and other favorites.

Apart from the cozy feel around the hotel what I love most are the friendly staff (specially the Nepali nationals) who were so excited upon hearing that we’re leaving for Nepal the next day. They even provided us with some helpful information when in their country. It added to the homey feel of the hotel.
