A Peek on Siem Reap, Cambodia

Siem Reap Cambodia Temple Blog

Before I kick off with my Siem Reap, Cambodia series (and before we all get templed out) lemme show you some scenes from our trip. The photos will somehow give you an idea on the city of Siem Reap, the gateway to Angkor region.

Where are you from?
Philippines
Oh! Marimar and Pacquiao

Cambodians are actually fans of Philippine Telenovelas. You’d actually see most of them spending their afternoon siestas in front of the television watching Khmer-dubbed Philippine shows (Khmer is the official language of Cambodia, the Cambodian people are also called Khmer).

Me and my buddy’s Siem Reap trip is one of those spur-of-the-moment thing. With no clue about what to expect, we headed to the Kingdom of Cambodia and explored Siem Reap in four days (check here for discounted tours, transportation and activities in Siem Reap).

Cambodia is a part of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations thus, our Philippine passports passed through the Immigrations like a breeze (thanks for Visa exemptions). We got a 21-day free tourist visa. For Non-ASEAN passport holders, a Visa-On-Arrival services at the airport is offered. Check out here for more information

The currency in Cambodia is Riel but you could actually use US$ in transacting everywhere. Don’t be stunned when you’re paying in US$ and then receiving some changes in Riels. The currency exchange is around $1 to 4,000 Riels.

In the next posts, I’d be sharing you our experiences and adventures in the Kingdom of Cambodia (Siem Reap).

  1. I didn't expect that I'll fall in love in Siem Reap. I only had to regrets: not having a good camera during my visit, and not staying longer (damn you, cebu pacific!!!!)
