Treasures of Bolinao Beach Resort – Bolinao, Pangasinan
As
I watch the sun dip into the horizon, my mind wandered off to those fond memories
I have of Patar Beach in Bolinao; those laughter and endless exchange of
whatnots with some of my dearest friends. It was already three years ago, but as I trace
my steps back to the same stretch of sugary cream sand beach, I can still
vividly recall every fun moment.

It
was in 2014 when me and some of my travel buddies boarded a 6-hour bus to one
of the best pristine beaches in the northern side of the country. Patar Beach in Bolinao, Pangasinan is famous for its sugary cream sand and clear waters and has been a favorite getaway by weekend trippers. We
camped out before on a native hut and cooked our own meals for three days, but this
time around, me and my buddy decided to check out one of the booming resorts in
the area.

Me and my buddy boarded a Bolinao-bound bus from Cubao (Five Star
Bus Co. | P450 each) and enjoyed the scenic afternoon view along the way. The six
hours felt fleeting as subdued bucolic scene passed by me. I snoozed halfway the trip and woke up in Bolinao at ten in the evening.
The sound of crashing waves welcomed us as we arrived at the Treasures of Bolinao Beach Resort. And because our bodies were aching for rest,
we immediately went to our room after processing our booking reservations.

Our Standard Room in the New Villa (P4,500 per night) has all the
basic amenities for a comfortable weekend stay; two double-size beds, AC,
wardrobe closet, sofa and a private veranda. It also has an en suite toilet and
bath with hot and cold shower.
The moon was shining at its best as it peeped through the lush
towering trees. We were on our second bottle of Japanese Sake on our veranda and endless conversations about future travel
plans broke the stillness of the place. Cellphone and data signals were
intermittent so it was an unexpected retreat from social media.

The brilliant morning sun peeked through the heavy drapes. I woke
up effortlessly at ten in the morning and immediately went to the veranda. The
sun was up which made me giddy, so I hurriedly woke my buddy up for the weather
was too irresistible to just stay in our room. I just arrived from a solo
winter trip to Seoul (with -11 deg. C. as the usual afternoon temperature) so all
I wanted was to bask under the sun, my way of defrosting. Haha.
We headed towards the in-house restaurant of Treasures of Bolinao
Beach Resort for breakfast. We opted to dine on the outside seating area
overlooking the sea. My breakie plate consisted of garlic rice, fried egg and fried
Dagupan boneless bangus while my
buddy had fried Alaminos longganisa; two of the best local food products from the province of Pangasinan.

After the filling breakfast, we headed to the pocket beach in
front of the resort and lounged for a while. We decided to walk towards the
Bolinao Rock Formation located on the right side of the resort.
It was a challenge crossing into the sea but the reward was a great view of the
cove.

Super clear waters
We went back to the resort and decided to pass through a small
gate that led us directly to Patar White Beach. It was a Saturday, so the beach
was filled with tourists who were enjoying the sugary cream sand and clear
waters. Me and my buddy spent almost an hour of snorkeling and swimming on
natural pools. It was around noontime when we went back to the resort for a
refreshing dip into the infinity pool.

We had all of our meals from their restaurant and each dish is
reasonably priced between P200 to P400. Servings were huge but service time was not that fast as everything is freshly cooked after ordering.
It was late in the afternoon when we decided to just lounge and enjoy
the view from one of the concrete cabanas overlooking the sea with our good old beer
(Red Horse Beer 1 Liter – P120). The supposedly two bottles of beer ended into
a drinking spree until around nine in the evening.

The same routine went on the next day but this time, it was more
relaxed. Bolinao in Pangasinan is truly gifted with natural beauty that you can appreciate at the comforts of Treasures of Bolinao Beach Resort. A perfect getaway from the hustles and bustles of city life.
