Pink Manila Hostel - Manila City

It was weekend and we didn’t wanna go home yet. I was with the usual suspects and before we embark on an all-nighter drinking spree, we booked a dorm-type accommodation at Pink Manila Hostel on an impulse.

Located in the busy area of Malate, Pink Manila Hostel is one of the backpacker’s haven in the metro. I’ve tried staying at some posh hostels in Makati (Z Hostel and Junction Hostel) and one of the legit ones in Manila (Red Carabao Hostel) so I kinda knew what to expect.

There was no huge signage or anything to make the place known to everyone. After confirming that we're on the right place, we entered a gym on a ground floor of a residential building that led to a tight lift that brought us to Pink Manila Hostel.

As soon as the elevator opened the party started. Graffiti, hues of pink, lounge areas, billiard table, bar, swimming pool, board games, books, lounge music, operational kitchen and a very chill vibe; all these welcomed us on the fifth level of this old residential building.

There's a pool, oh yeah.
We were greeted by a gracious lady and processed our booking immediately. A bunk on a Fan Room can go as low as P450 (US$ 9.5) and a Private Room is around P1,600 (US$ 33.85) (check room rates).

After we processed our booking, we settled on a mixed six-bed dorm room with private toilet and bath. It also had the basic amenities of fan (and/or air-conditioning), three double-decker beds with six bunks, pillows and blankies, lockers (bring your own padlocks) and power sockets. They also offer free breakfast of toasts and coffee (or tea) from 7 - 10 am (which we missed. blame the beer).

We rested for a bit and decided to go out and search for a beer place. As we went to the lounge area, we saw the fridge packed with beer. We consumed a few bottles as we wanted to warm up a bit before we go out. I dunno what happened but we ended up staying there and exchanged travel stories and all that jazz to backpackers around the world. We were the only Filipino guests at that time and everyone seemed to be eager about asking about traveling around the Philippines (check here for discounted tours, transportation and activities in Metro Manila).

They also serve local meals aside from booze

Lounge. Booze up. Chill.
Hostels are the perfect place to meet new friends that would either organize or mess your travel itinerary. A hodgepodge of travel ideas, backpacker routes and whatnots; Pink Manila Hostel is one of the most happening hostels in the metro. And oh, they have cheap beers too; perfect place to hang out.
