Consocep Falls (Mt. Isarog- Tigaon, Camarines Sur)

Mt Isarog Consocep Camarines Sur

It was our first day in Camarines Sur and after touring around CamSur Watersports Complex, we went to Consocep Waterfalls at the edge of the famous Mt. Isarog.

The biggest sardines ever!
Consocep is a barangay in the town of Tigaon, Camarines Sur. There is a Consocep Mountain Resort/ Falls located at the foot of Mt. Isarog. We were accompanied by my friend's relatives so transportation was not a problem. Coming from Naga City, with own transportation, it was a 1-hour travel to Tigaon.

We had a quick daytrip to Atulayan Island in the town of Sangay and then reserved one full day for a nature trip at Mt. Isarog. From the Tigaon main highway, a short 15-minute drive to the uphill and downhill slopes and you will reach the area where you have to pay P15 each person for entrance fee.

the trek
Climbing down the 1350+-step trail (though some are broken-down) was effortless but going back was a different story.

The trail was not as steep as when you hike Daranak Falls in Tanay, Rizal and there were signs to guide you along the way. You can bring stuff with you, like food, alcoholic drinks, barbecue stuff and this will not be checked when you enter (apparently, you own the whole place, in case there were no other tourists or locals in there). You will not get bored because of the amazing view of nature. Even when you hike during high noon, the cool breeze will calm your senses.

There are three falls in the area. After the easy hike, you will be greeted by the Kawa-Kawa Falls (got it's name from "kawali" or cauldron because of its shape).

If you follow another trail, you will see the Bulalakaw Falls (named after bulalakaw or shooting star).

Another trail will lead you to "Tumaguite or Tumaguiti Falls".

Summer season means dry waterfalls
We went there during June and the water was not that strong. The water was literally freezing cold even during noon, perfect for dry summer days.

I dunno what this is, but it's cute:)
There's also a two-decade old tree house. It is somewhat dilapidated and going up is really nerve-wracking because of the broken stairs. But when you're up there, it's beautiful. Hearing birds and seeing other creatures that you only see in books is really an amazing feeling.

It's not that easy to get there but it's worth the nerves.
Going out of the area is really hard! Of course, you're tired from swimming, eating drinking, and roaming around. If you're a hardcore nature-lover, go and look for this gem in Camarines Sur. I totally recommend it.

  3. You are all so lucky to have seen it in its glory days. We visited May 2014, maganda pa rin ang mga falls pero sadly ang dami nang basura. Hope the LGU does something about it. Sayang talaga. :( So reminder lang sa lahat... SOP sa ating mga magagandang pasyalan... "Leave nothing but footprints, take nothing but memories."

    2. yeah too sad. but for everyone's info. though brgy. consocep was within the municipality of tigaon's jurisdiction, it's the provincial government of camarines sur runs the consocep mountain resort not the lgu-tigaon nor brgy. consocep. camsur provincial government developed the place and collected revenues from then til this time. the park was very much attended and well-maintained during the term of former governor luis villafuerte but unluckily grossly neglected (including the mini-park at the back of prov. capitol building at the main provincial complex) during the term of his son lray villafuerte 'til the present administration of his "apo" migs villafuerte. sana maibalik ang dating ganda ng mga ito...someday. :(
btw, miss blissfulguro...can i use some of your pics in consocep? i am asked to layout our new business permit and im thinking of using pictures such as yours for backdrops. thanks in advanced :)
